Recently, I’ve put myself on News Cleanse (more on that later). The short of it is because there’s so much bad happening in the world, I couldn’t handle it. But, even though I don’t studiously read the latest news articles, I still educate myself.
Here are some cool things happening in the world:
Light is – finally – being shed on the issues and stress that first-responders deal with (and are criticized by a public who has no idea about the job or making decisions in high-stress and critical situations) and more help is being made available. Here’s to this becoming a growing trend everywhere.
The travel industry is waking up. I’ve been struggling with how much travel is impacting the environment, especially since it’s something I absolutely love. The good news is that there have been changes afoot in the travel industry, making changes for a better tomorrow.
Recently, I’ve been googling on how to create a carbon sink on my property. Turns out, I already have one! Ponds can be great carbon sinks and can help the environment by just being added to farmer’s fields. I love when environmental living and farming go hand-in-hand.
While it’s not a full change, and it’s littered with issues that will have to be dealt with, it’s a step in the right direction when it comes to food in the North.

This may be a marketing ploy, but if it contributes to the greater good, does it even matter? Volvo has come up with a solution for polluted waters: a living seawall. This bad boy attracts sea life, providing them with a habitat.
This may not be something that seems fits the criteria of good stuff happening when you first begin the read, but it’s important to educate ourselves. Especially when it comes to the hype around non-gmos. Lately, it’s seemed like everything is labeled non-gmo and it has me, and a lot of people, confused and pissed off. This is a great explanation of just what in the fuck is happening.
Food-sharing to rid the world of excess waste and to help those who need it
Plastic-free is hard, but this article lists people doing good.
Traveling makes sooo much waste. You don’t even think about it! Easy things to change your habits.
With all the species dying, a new species is a breath of fresh air. Plus, this bird is adorable AF.
Saving an ecosystem without a holier-than-thou approach? Love it!
The real estate lover, home decor fanatic, and tree-hugger in me is loving this!
