Winter is here and that means dry, parched skin. While I use my sugar scrub all year round, I tend to use it more in the winter months, sloughing off dead skin. This super easy DIY is perfect as a Christmas gift or a gift to yourself.
What you will need:
- mixing bowl
- spoon
- sugar
- carrier oil
- jars
- big pot
- essential or fragrance oil (optional)
Step 1.
Sanitize all of your jars. This means boiling them for 10 minutes, the same as you would when canning.

Step 2.
Mix 1 cup sugar to 1/2 cup oil. This will yield one half pint. Or, two quarter pints/jam jars. Pro tip: the two quarter pints are easier to scoop out of than a half pint.
I always use my dandelion infused oil, usually making a ton of skincare products in the early summer months. This year, I jarred some dandelion oil and dried some dandelions just in case I ran out of it and could make more oil!
Since it’s November and damn-near impossible to get dandelions to make said oil, any carrier oil will do!
Step 3.
Mix in your favourite essential or fragrance oil. Remember that essential oils can be strong both in their scent and properties, so don’t go overboard!

Step 4.
Scoop and add to clean jars.
Step 5.
Use and enjoy!
