The Cairns region has not one, but two, rainforests and shows you just why we should be doing more to protect our beautiful environment. Kuranda, which is close to Cairns and easily accessible, is gorgeous and the first rainforest shown in photos. The Daintree rainforest, a world heritage site that gives you serious jurasic vibes is a little further and can be added on as an extra couple of days instead of a day trip. The town, itself, is on mudflats so no picturesque beaches await you, but is absolutely surrounded by beaches. Oh, and the great barrier reef. Need I say more?

Views from the Kuranda rainforest.

Walking through the rainforest is a plant-lovers dream.

You can take a scenic train through the rainforest! How cool is that?

Foggy, and yet, Kuranda is so beautiful.

Bird world, butterflies and a koala sanctuary with crocs and quokkas are open for you to explore at the top. Birds land on you and you can feed them from your hand. Maybe, if you’re lucky like us, you’ll get to see pademelons (similar to wallabies) fucking…

Grab a snorkeling tour and check out some beautiful reefs and ocean views like this. This is why we should be protecting our waters.

If you’re lucky, you’ll get views like this from your airbnb. This is the one we booked.

Doesn’t it feel as if dinosaur should be roaming below?!

The rainforest, she’s a thicc girl.

Walk through a boardwalk in the rainforest and arrive at paradise. There are many close beaches to Cairns, but if you’re already in the Daintree area, this beauty is magnificent.
