Narrow down your search to what you’re interested in. For my fiance, he just wanted to be warm. After that, it took a little more research to find what suited us. Decide what would make you happy. Is it beaches? Hot weather? Romantic walks in a city? Cold? Adventure? The list is practically endless. Find what gets you excited and go from there.
Sometimes, your significant other just doesn’t know what the fuck they’re talking about. And, that’s okay. Both of you should have the right to Veto a place because you’re not really into it; make sure you’re not veto-ing everything, though, else you won’t end up going anywhere! If you want Paris, but he’s looking at the french countryside, then realize that that’s an amazing compromise (gorgeous AND more romantic). Plus, you can spend a day or two in the city, flying in and out of Paris.
Putting too much pressure on yourself to find the perfect vacation spot for your honeymoon is just going to drive you insane. Yes, it should be special and over-the-top and lovely and everything amazing. Chances are, if you’re the type of people who love to travel, you’re going to travel again as a couple. This isn’t the be-all end-all vacation – it’s the start of many more to come!
Everyone has their idea of what a honeymoon should be like. Some wait months to go on that special trip because of timing and weather because that’s what they want to do. Others leave right away to adventure together. Everyone’s looking for that amazing vacation spot that you can enjoy as a married couple.
But, that could just mean a cabin in the woods for some and a 5-star over-water bungalow for others. If you feel like you should be going somewhere just because that’s what honeymooners do, stop. This is your honeymoon, not your friend’s or Instagram’s or your family’s. Do what makes your (and your significant other) happy.
Honestly? When my fiance and I were trying to figure out where to go on our honeymoon, I let him take the reigns because he hasn’t traveled outside of North America. Ridiculous, I know! Of course, we decided on the final destination together, but it took him a while to get to our honeymoon spot. How’d we – finally – get there? We spun a globe, pointed our finger and landed on: Morocco. Yay! We decided to include Spain because it’s nearby and it added a little something extra to our trip. And, because, why not?
